Buying your first home
Set a price and deposit target, then see how your monthly saving builds towards it.
Buy my first home takes you through three things: the price of home you’re considering, the deposit you’re aiming for (as an amount or a percentage of the price), and what you can save each month.
In Your home, the questions that shape your figures are the estimated purchase price and when you’d like to buy. A rough price and month are enough. FLYNQD doesn’t ask about bedrooms or other features of the home, because they don’t change these figures.
It links to your home goal, so the deposit you’re saving for shows up alongside your other priorities in your forecast.
If you expect money later, such as a gift from family, you can include it separately so you can see the difference it makes. Leave it out if it isn’t certain.
Before you rely on the figures
The deposit is only part of the cash you’ll need. Stamp Duty or its Scottish and Welsh equivalents, legal fees, a survey, moving and mortgage fees are paid upfront too. Rent or buy shows these step by step.
These are estimates, not advice, and they don’t check whether a lender would offer you a mortgage.
