Guide · Your priorities
Balancing lifestyle, tax, retirement timing and legacy
Most plans can’t maximise everything. Ranking what matters helps you choose between trade-offs.
Spending more now usually means retiring later or leaving less. Paying less tax may mean taking money in a different order.
Rank your priorities, then set your withdrawal order to match. Both are saved once and used everywhere.
Your ranking decides which suggestions come first and which comparison Explore opens. It never changes your figures or forecast. Your withdrawal order is different: it sets which accounts pay for spending and can change the forecast.
Priorities don’t hold amounts or dates. If leaving money matters, enter the amount in the retirement options comparison under “Leave at the end of your plan”. Scenarios that would leave less are flagged. This is a check, not a guarantee: nothing stops spending or sets the money aside.
Watch the walkthrough to see a fictional saver rank, save and use their priorities. Anyone can watch it, and it leaves your own priorities and plan untouched. You can also open it from Help or with Show me how on the Priorities page.
