Debt in retirement

Debt that outlasts your working life comes out of a smaller income.

Check each debt’s end date against your retirement age. Interest-only mortgages need a plan to repay the balance.

When you add a mortgage, FLYNQD suggests a saved property and asks you to confirm it, pick a different one, or say it isn’t linked. Car finance, and loans for something like a boat, work the same way with your saved Other assets: FLYNQD suggests one and asks “Is this loan for…?”, or “Is this loan secured on…?” for borrowing secured on land. Nothing is linked until you answer, and linking never changes who owns the asset or what it’s worth. If you delete a linked asset, the loan is kept and just becomes unlinked. Who owes the debt and who makes the repayments are asked separately, because they aren’t always the same people.
