Understanding interest and repayments

Interest adds to what you owe; repayments reduce it. The rate and term together set the total cost.

A debt total with no rate uses your shared debt rate. You can set your own rate on any debt.

Without a repayment or term, FLYNQD can’t pay the debt down and marks the forecast as provisional.

On the Dashboard, student loans have their own “Student loans” heading, marked with each borrower’s name and colour. A known balance is counted once in the debt total. A missing balance shows “Balance not entered” and isn’t counted as £0. Student loans are repaid from pay as a share of income above the threshold, so they aren’t added to the monthly repayments for mortgages and other loans. Edit opens that person’s student-loan details on the Debt page.
